A Month of Thanksgiving: Day 3

Today I am thankful for rest. This past week was tiring and getting to sleep in on Saturday was a blessing. I am also thankful for home cooked meals. I woke up to Damarise making french toast for us. (yum!) And I had fun making homemade chicken noodle soup and dinner rolls for supper.

Today I am also thankful for Megan. She came by our house to do homework and nap. I love when friends pop in! We ate dinner together, played scrabble, and found out the best news ever.

This news is probably what I am most thankful for today. My old RA, Virginia is finally engaged to her... now fiancĂ©, Kevin! Ah! When we heard the news we freaked out! I am SO thankful! They are two of the kindest people and knowing that they are engaged is the greatest thing. We of course had to celebrate, so we called up Davey and Zach (since Kevin was their RA) and we all celebrated together by eating ice cream and watching a movie.

All in all, it was a wondrous Saturday with so many blessings to thank God for. He is wonderful!

Rest (Thankful: Day 19)

I'm thankful for Saturdays! They are always restful, sometimes productive, and normally spent with friends. Today I'm thankful:

  • For sleep!
  • That I'm almost done with my paper... 43 more words!
  • For a clean room.
  • That we got to play games with Courtney and Will.
  • For homemade chocolate chip pancakes.
  • For Virginia! And playing games in her room.
  • For friends on the hall and lots of laughter!
  • That in exactly one month Damarise and I will be in Zambia celebrating Dad's birthday with the family!
  • That Damarise trimmed my hair... really well too!
  • For friends from the summer that randomly pop into our room.
  • For curling up in a warm bed and listening to Harry Potter until we're too tired to stay awake.
Thank you God for Saturdays and for all your blessings!

It Would Be.

It would be that when I finally end a post with an apology for not going to write for a while, I would end up writing every day. But, I'm just in that mood where all I want to do is sit down and write. The only problem is, right now I don't have a whole lot to say. But I will scrounge something up from all of my many thoughts and put the pen to the paper, or in this case the fingers to the keyboard. (?)

Right now I am in Janessa and Megan's room. Janessa is napping and Megan is making a gift for a friend. The windows are open. The sun is shining. A slight breeze is blowing through the room. And the sound of a beautiful guitar is resonating through the room. Someone on the second floor is an amazing guitar player and it is nice to sit on Megan's bed and enjoy the beautiful noise.

Today is Saturday, and let me just tell you, I'm thankful it is! The weekends are great. It's a time to catch up on homework, study for future exams, and just slow down and breathe for a few minutes. Oh, and also to blog. Although, I have been finding time to blog recently... hmm... we'll see if that keeps up.

In other thoughts, I've been reading in Philippians for my quiet time. I love the book of Philippians. The other day I was reading Philippians 1:27, "For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain." Such a wonderful verse that shows Paul's desire was solely God. The center of everything was Christ! How amazing. As I was reading that verse it hit me that so often many of us just hold on to the last part, to die is gain. Yes, to die is gain because we will be with God, but how often to we do the first part of the verse. To live is Christ. Verse 27 goes on to say, live in a manner worthy of the Gospel of Christ. God has us on this earth for a reason. He saved us and called us His own for a purpose, and it isn't to please ourselves. It is to live in a manner worthy of the Gospel of Christ to glorify God and point to Him in all we do, so that we can truly say, like Paul, to live IS Christ!!

Anyways, there is my little blurb for the day. Janessa is up and we are about to head down to the gym for a little Saturday work out :) Should be good! Until the next time, which at this rate seems like it will be tomorrow :) So long!

Soccer+Sunburn+Storms=September Saturday

Yes, everything in the title starts with an "S". :) But all those S's describe my Saturday perfectly. So, here are the S's of my Saturday :)

Soccer
I went down to watch the Covenant Scots play soccer. It was an amazing game. The Scots one 3-0. Yay! It was so fun. The crowd did a lot of different cheers, we were clapping, and just having a great time. :) It was definitely a fun afternoon!

The stands were packed!

Haha, Kevin, Micah, and Jonny in their Sweden or Canadian apparel.

Emily, Megan, and I watching the game :)

Sunburn
So, I went to the soccer game and had a great time. It was hot, but I didn't really think anything of it... that is, until I came back to my room and looked at my arm. Oops. The sun definitely baked me a tad bit.

Definitely a farmer's tan...er um.. burn.

Storms
I love rain! And thunderstorms, ah! They're even better :) When we came back from the soccer game I got busy cleaning my room when all of a sudden it began pouring rain! It was great! I ran into Megan's room and we went out to play in the rain :) Brianna joined us and we had a blast! It was like playing in the rain in Mozambique. So fun!

The rain building up on my window. So pretty!

Getting drenched in the warm September rain. Lovely!

That is my Saturday in a nutshell–Soccer, Sunburn, and Storms. It was a really great day filled with fun, laughs, and adventures :) Definitely a good September Saturday.

Week with the Woodrows: Saturday

Saturday :D The weekend! Yahoo!

Ian and Andrew fixed bikes :)

We were tired! So we laid around and played games :)

Bethy and Gracie have started this amazing ministry on Saturdays. They have girls from the bairos nearby come to their house and they do crafts with them and a bible lesson. It is a really neat mission and they are reaching out to girls their own age!  They do that every Saturday afternoon, so if you remember please be praying that the Lord will use their time and effort to bring more people to Himself. Thanks!

After Bethy and Gracie were done Sarah, Gracie and I decided to lay out on a sheet on the grass. While we did that it started raining. :D nice! Gracie and I laid out on the sheet through the whole rain storm :) It was fuuun!

Double rainbow!

Sarah and Gracie rode bikes after the rain.

After dinner we decided to play rook. We split up Kent and I against Damarise and Bethy. And for the other side of the table Andrew and Ian against Sarah and Gracie.

Kent and I were not getting good hands! But it was still fun!!

Damarise and Bethy were winning by far! They were elated.

Um, we were losing... haha..

Yah, Bethy loves winning!

And Kent is trying to figure out how we can win :D hehe

Haha... the other side of the table had a loud game!!! It was hilarious to watch them play! Gracie and Andrew's faces say a lot about the game! haha.

The final score of our game. Damarise and Bethy want to frame this and give it to everyone for Christmas. *Yeah*

Andrew and Benaiah played with action figures while we were playing Rook.

The Rook table.

The winners!

Oh my goodness! We WON!

Awww brother and sister!

Qui-Gon-Jinn. Andrew and Ian's "Lucky Charm" hehe... ok not really :P

All of Damarise and Bethy's fans trying to get into the pic.... or mess up the pic :P

The pic of the winners. We wanted another one since this one's blurry but the winners said we would have to pay for another one of them. Haha! ... While the were SO happy about winning they went upstairs to tell Uncle Charles. While Damarise and Bethy were coming back down the stairs the started to hum the wedding march. Haha, we all stopped and were like, "WHAT?!" Haha.... they meant to hum, "All Hail the Chief." Haha, whoops, they restarted their song and came down :) hehe...

Andrew's happy :D

Aww Chiquita.

Ian and Chiquita.

The winners from the other game. Good job guys!

Damarise and Bethy are now being sponsored by a toothpaste company since they won Rook. Haha!

What a FUN day!!!
