Yesterday was our Pastor's graduation! He got his doctorate (I think that's what it was).
Dad went to his graduation ceremony! Loads of people eh? It lasted from 9am-1:30pm!
Some other people from our church were also graduating! ... Our pastor wore the orange banner, which I'm guessing is for becoming a doctor, and most everyone else from our church wore the white banner... I'm not sure what that one was though, sorry.
At 3 we went to our pastor's house to celebrate :) A lot of the ladies from the church helped prepare food for the party and since we live right across the street, we helped out every so often:) On Thursday we got to help shape some biscuit/cookie type things. Friday Mom, and we girls went down to cut paper for the paper chain decor. Mom was down there most of the day helping cut and cook stuff. She said that one of the ladies asked her if in the States all the ladies will get together and help cook up a big meal for a party. Mom said that we do, sometimes, but we don't cook on fogãos like they do. (Fogãos are a type of grill type thing with space to but charcoal in at the bottom.) Well, let me tell you, they were in shock! How could we cook without a fogão?! Mom told them that everyone uses their oven/stove. They were shocked that everyone has an oven and stove! They asked if we sometimes used a fogão, and Mom told them that no, no one really cooks with carvão (Kinda like charcoal only not shaped and very rough.) and you can only buy it in a store (opposed to here where a vendor riding a bike and dinging his bell sells it to you.) And that it is shaped in a perfect square type shape. Hehe, that was just to strange for them :)
